“It’s estimated that around 10 million people in the UK have a phobia. They can effect anyone, regardless of age, sex and social background. It is described as a feeling of overwhelming fear of an object, place and situation”
NHS Choices

The most commonly reported phobias are:

  • Arachnophobia – fear of spiders
  • Claustrophobia – fear of confined spaces
  • Agaraphobia – fear of open spaces
  • Social Phobia – fear of social situations

When a phobia starts to get a grip, you can find that you start to organise your life around it. Phobias can make you feel miserable, frightened and out of control. You may find yourself frustrated that you cannot logically reason to remove the fear.

The reason it is difficult to shift a phobia yourself is because these fears exist in the unconscious part of our mind (the subconscious). Hypnotherapy is a very effective way of overcoming them. Often in just three sessions of hypnotherapy we can help to reduce or remove the phobias permanently, leaving you to get on with your life. Hypnotherapy works by changing the way your subconscious mind works.

The three sessions are focused around you learning relaxation techniques so you can approach the focus of your phobia in a calm and confident manner. You will be encouraged to envisage how you would like to react when faced with your fears. This all takes place within the sessions and you are completely safe and relaxed.
